One of the contenders for the much disputed title of being the first ever dub LP. Whether it was the first or not it’s certainly the most experimental and as a result represents a crucial landmark in the development of dub as an art form.
It combines Perry’s restless rule breaking creativity and killer rhythms with Tubby’s mixing desk expertise and the results are off the scale amazing.
The inclusion of the sound effects and snippets of spoken word predate the use of sampling by decades and, frankly, the whole record still stands in a league of it’s own as a vital cultural and musical artefact from two of the most important figures not only in the development of dub but modern music in general.
